A wee glimpse of our story so far
And our wonderful dream
Over fifteen years ago Gill and I sold our five acre property in Alice Springs and set off on a huge adventure. We traveled in a wagon built by Gill from recycled junk and pulled by eight of our rescued camels. On the journey with us were over fifty previously abused or neglected animals. Parrots, dogs, goats, a donkey, doves and our rooster "The Colonel" and his nine hens.
We planned to travel east, a journey of over 2,000 kilometres before purchasing a suitable property to open our animal /eco tourism sanctuary. Gill and I had outgrown our 5 acres and wanting to move closer to the coast ,almost 3,000 kms away, yet unable to find anyone to run our sanctuary while we took time out to drive over and look at suitable properties ..we had to come up with a creative way of getting to the coast WITH all our animals, and we were open to an adventure on the way!
I always thought our journey would conclude with a - they reached their dream home and lived happily ever after- but it has become so much more than that. While we have faced many challenges and been pushed beyond all limits in many areas of our life, our path has been abundant in treasures. Not those recognised by the tiny bandwidth of reality our society functions in that only deems what's sparkly as gold.- NO real treasures...more love, awareness, wisdom, and a deeper communion with our animals and all life.
After living for the last five years at a remote dwelling on the edge of a river, in a place that gave us everything we needed but never felt like our heart home, our inner guidance tells us to PREPARE TO MOVE. Where, how, and when, I cannot tell you. All I can say is that there is a force behind us as we prepare for the change that feels like riding the most magnificent wave. There may be no endings to sacred journeys, but there is always expansion. Join us as we take our next leap of faith with our tribe of rescued animals into the unknown but ultimately into the arms of LOVE. Our life feels so EXCITING!
